Interior ministry: Femida newspaper chief editor in Azerbaijan punished based on lawsuit by policemen, but not minister

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 4 / Trend A.Huseynbala /

Femida newspaper chief editor was punished on the basis of the lawsuit by the policemen, but not by the Minister, the representative of the press service of the Interior Ministry Ehsan Zahidov told Trend today

"Both in the Femida newspaper and other print media outlets the chief editor of the newspaper Eyyub Kerimov insulted the interior agencies' staffs, accusing them of committing heinous and special heinous crimes. In this regard, employees and veterans of the interior agencies sued for consideration in a special order, "the Ministry said

The Yasamal district Court completed trial on Kerimov Feb.3 and sentenced him for 1.5 year correctional labor

"Unfortunately, some media outlets described this process as being raised by the Minister. This is baseless approach, and we once again want to say the lawsuit against Kerimov was filed by the Interior Ministry's employees. Ramil Usubov only signed the statement due to signing the document by large number of policemen was impossible. Thus Kerimov was punished on the basis of the policemen's lawsuit," the Ministry said
