Georgia and Turkey mull military cooperation

Georgian Defense Minister Bacho Akhalaia and his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Vecdi Gonul discussed development prospects of Georgian-Turkish bilateral ties during a meeting in Istanbul.

The sides discussed the development of bilateral cooperation in the technical and educational spheres, the ministry told Trend .

"We have been cooperating with Turkey for several years. We have mulled the deepening of this cooperation and opportunities between the two departments," Akhalaia told journalists.

When asked if the sides discussed arms supplies from Turkey to Georgia, he said such issues are not discussed in meetings of such a format.

Russia accuses NATO countries, including Turkey, of making arms supplies to Georgia.
