U.S. State Department teaches Turkmen security officials

A two-week course on emergency management was completed in Ashgabat as a part of the diplomatic security service of the U.S. State Department on cooperation.

A press-release of the U.S. Embassy noted that more than 20 employees from the Interior Ministry and the Ministry of Defense of Turkmenistan attended the workshop.

Charge d'Affaires in Turkmenistan, Sylvia Curran, said after the course: "The completion of trainings marks the end of the first training course on the preparation, which was proposed by our staff of Diplomatic Security here in Turkmenistan. We hope that this is the beginning of partnership.

Since 1983, the Bureau of Diplomatic Security Service of the U.S. State Department has provided foreign law enforcement agencies and security authorities with the training and equipment to enhance their capacity and ability to detect, limit, resist and investigate illegal activities.

More than 61,000 foreign employees of law enforcement and security agencies from 154 countries were trained and received assistance via these and other similar programs.
