A meeting with a delegation of the European Union, which arrived to begin formal cooperation with Georgia within "Partnership for Mobility" was held today in the Georgian Foreign Ministry.
During the meeting the Georgian side presented information about the situation with migration. The sides also considered the initiatives and a plan for cooperation within "Partnership for Mobility" signed on the declaration. They reflect the specific activity. The responsible departments of the participating countries - the EU member states and Georgia are determined.
Deputy State Minister for European Integration Tamara Beruchashvili told media after the meeting that cooperation within the initiative "Partnership for Mobility" will assist in the legalization of Georgian citizens in European countries, through the so-called "Circular migration".
"This scheme will allow the citizens of Georgia to work legally for some time, to learn and undergo trainings in the EU countries, and then return to Georgia. This scheme also provides for close cooperation with representatives of Georgian Diaspora, " she said.
Beruchashvili noted that there are concrete proposals of several countries in Europe, which were proposed to the Georgian side for discussion.
She noted that at the same time, active cooperation with the EU within "Partnership for mobility" is one of the most important elements for the liberalization of visa regime with EU countries in the future.
Joint Declaration on "Partnership for mobility" was signed in Brussels on November 30, 2009. Georgia with the EU countries signed it.
