Resolution of the conflicts in the Caucasus is the priority of Kazakhstan's presidency in OSCE is the, Kanat Saudabayev, OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Kazakhstan's Secretary of State and Foreign Minister at the briefing following his meeting with Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze today.
"OSCE's position is maximum contribute to the return of mission to Georgia and resolve conflicts," he said.
He stressed that, it is his first visit to the South Caucasus as the OSCE chairman and he meets with all parties to familiarize with the position of the opposing sides. "Solution of the conflicts by peaceful means and through negotiations is the main thing for us," he added.
He said he supports negotiations in the Geneva format and soon Kazakhstan will actively join them.
In turn, Vashadze named the meeting "interesting and useful." "Kazakhstan had submitted its vision and action program, which involves activation of the Geneva process," he said naming Kazakhstan as "a friendly country and strategic partner."
Vashadze noted that, Kazakhstan shares the plan for the return of the OSCE mission, which has been blocked by Russia, to Georgia developed by Greece. "It was a compromise, and I think that it may be applied. I do not know, will Kazakhstan be able to persuade Russia, but steps in this direction will be taken," he added.
