Azerbaijan's minister of national security receives his Polish counterpart

On Feb. 18, Azerbaijan's Minister of National Security, General-Lieutenant Eldar Mahmudov received Head of National Security Bureau of Poland, Aleksander Shchiglo, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan, the Ministry reported.  

Welcoming the guest, the Minister expressed confidence that the first visit of the Head of National Security Bureau of Poland to Azerbaijan will contribute to further strengthening cooperation between the relevant agencies of the two countries.

The meeting focused on combating transnational organized crime, as well as terrorism, drug trafficking, illegal migration. In addition, the sides exchanged views on energy security, and mentioned the importance of expanding exchange of information and experts between the special service agencies of Azerbaijan and Poland.  

Mahmudov spoke about measures taken against international terrorism and extremism and provided details regarding consequences caused by the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.  

Expressing satisfaction with the meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Shchiglo said that Poland attaches particular importance to developing close friendship relations and cooperation at all levels with Azerbaijan. The guest appreciated Azerbaijan's role in international anti-terror coalition and said that his country supports Azerbaijan's territorial integrity in the issue of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the solution of the conflict based on international law.   

The meeting also covered prospects of mutual cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.
