The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan received the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus.
The meeting between Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov and the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby focused on the current status and prospects of Azerbaijan-EU relations, the Foreign Ministry's press service told Trend on Feb. 24.
Mentioning Azerbaijan's interest in strengthening cooperation with the EU, Mammadyarov highlighted the importance of the Eastern Partnership in this regard. Touching upon the security in the South Caucasus, particularly the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the minister said that for the solution of the conflict, the Armenian armed forces must withdraw from occupied Azerbaijani territories, Azerbaijan's territorial integrity must be restored and the internally displaced persons must be returned to their homelands.
Semneby mentioned the inadmissibility of continuation of occupation of Azerbaijani territories and hoped for soon solution of the conflict. In addition, during the meeting the sides exchanged views on energy and other question of mutual interest.
