Georgia's prisoners can serve their sentences in monasteries

With the mediation of Georgia's Patriarchate prisoners can serve their sentences in monasteries. Georgia's Patriarchy, head prosecutor's office and the Department of Corrections, probation and legal aid signed a memorandum on mutual cooperation March 12.

The ceremony was held at the Patriarchate. The memorandum was signed by Metropolitan Akhaltsiky and Tao-Klardzhetsky Theodore, first deputy prosecutor David Sakvarelidze.

The purpose of the memorandum is to develop a new method of re-socialization of prisoners and the Georgian Orthodox Church's joining the process.
