Turkmen President Gurbangulu Berdimuhammedov received a letter from Apostolic Nunciature Andrej Madej.
The letter expressed "deep gratitude on behalf of the faithful Catholics for registering the Roman Catholic center in Turkmenistan."
The Vatican and Turkmenistan established diplomatic relations in 1997 when the first Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Pier Luigi Chelata presented his credentials to the Turkmen government
