Azerbaijani official: Country must allocate grants for scholarly legal research

Grants for scholarly legal research should be allocated in Azerbaijan, Legislation and Legal Expertise Department head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Shahin Aliyev said at an international conference on issues of legal state-building, training lawyers and legal sciences in Azerbaijan.

Grants for scholarly legal research should be allocated in Azerbaijan, Legislation and Legal Expertise Department head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Shahin Aliyev said at an international conference on issues of legal state-building, training lawyers and legal sciences in Azerbaijan.

"We need to encourage lawyers to conduct research. As in all countries, grants should also be provided in this field in Azerbaijan," Aliyev said.

He said first and foremost, private higher educational institutions should be interested in these grants.

There are a sufficient number of private higher educational institutions in the country and they can allocate grants to lawyers for scholarly research.

"Private schools should be interested in providing these grants, as they will boost the prestige of these institutions and increase interest among students in these schools, as well as an give impetus to the development of Azerbaijani legal sciences," Aliyev said.
