Some actions on cooperation with the Council of Europe, and particularly with the Venice Commission are envisaged by the Action Plan on the eve of elections in Azerbaijan this year, representative of CE Venice Commission Sergei Kuznetsov told media on Tuesday.
"The aim of my current visit is to discuss the time and format of the actions in which Azerbaijan is interested, as well as to determine which topics require more attention," - Kuznetsov said.
He said that it is also planned to conduct actions with the Central Election Commission of the country.
"This time, we specifically talked about the format and specified topic. The actions of the appeal system are among the actions that we will undertake with the CEC, as the recommendations relating to this matter were contained in the latest opinion of the Venice Commission. We have carried out actions before presidential elections. We would like to see how the system works, as two election campaigns have been held, " he said.
He said that the second event has already become a classic in co-operation. This is work with representatives of the territorial electoral commissions. Discussing important issues, the Venice Commission and the CEC find the best solutions to problems encountered while preparing for elections and on election day, he said.
"Legislation and the Electoral Code provide an opportunity to think about how to make the commission's work more transparent, how to achieve more respect from all participants in the electoral process to issues developed by the Commission at different levels," Kuznetsov said.
