Georgia, Tbilisi, May 24 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /

The Georgian side excludes possibilities of creating problems for the U.S. by establishing a visa-free regime with Iran, Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister Nino Kalandadze said today at a briefing.

According to her, political statement on this regard has been already made and in the near future the relevant ministries of the two countries will start talks on cancellation of visa regime.

"From economic point of view this decision has great importance for the country. Besides, this may correspond to the interests of citizens," Kalandadze said noting that Georgia has visa-free regime  with Turkey too.

Regarding the question whether this decision will create some problems in Georgian-US relations, Nino Kalandadze said that there is no such kind of danger, because the U.S. remains Georgia's partner and friend. She also stressed regarding the visa-free regime with Iran that the Georgian side supports a constant dialogue with their American counterparts.

Kalandadze also touched upon the Iranian Foreign Minister's upcoming visit to Georgia, saying that the exact date has yet been determined. We only know that the visit will be held in August.
