The Georgian delegation headed by Vice Prime Minister Giorgi Baramidze attended the European Union's Eastern Partnership member-states' foreign ministers' first informal meeting in Sopot.
The main theme of the meeting was a policy of "Eastern Partnership".
"Development of "Eastern Partnership" has practical value for Georgia due to the design of simplified visa regime. In addition, it is important to agree an association implying a free trade agreement," Baramidze said.
During the meeting, the Georgian delegation focused on the issues of the Russian-Georgian relations and EU's role in resolving the conflict between the two states, as well as the issue of returning refugees to their homes.
Baramidze said such meetings are of great importance, since Georgia has an opportunity to better acquaint the international community with the democratic and economic reforms in the country and get support for them.
During the visit, Baramidze held informal meetings with the French Minister for European Affairs, the foreign ministers of Sweden, Poland, Belarus, Moldova and European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule.
