PACE head: Referendum in Kyrgyzstan is important to stabilize situation

The referendum on a new draft constitution of Kyrgyzstan is very important for the republic in terms of stabilizing the situation in the country, head of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Movlud Chavushoglu said at a press-conference.

"We saw that many refugees run away to neighboring countries as a result of ethnic clashes. People were killed. So, a referendum is very important in stabilizing of the situation in this country and suspending of the bloodshed," Chavushoglu said.

He said that the most important is that the referendum June 27 was held peacefully and calmly. International observers and representatives of neighboring countries monitored the referendum.

He expressed the hope that the situation in this country will improve.
