Kazakhstan as OSCE chairman is making every effort to use the organization's potential to assist Kyrgyzstan, OSCE Chairman, Secretary of State - Kazakh Foreign Minister Kanat Saudabayev told Trend.
"OSCE is keenly interested in the situation in Kyrgyzstan to finally return to the creative direction. Therefore, we call on the countries and international organizations to quickly develop a plan to provide massive aid to the country," the minister said.
He said that Kazakhstan's chairmanship in the OSCE welcomed the successful holding of referendum in Kyrgyzstan. It became an important step towards political stability, restoration of constitutional order and the legitimacy of existing government.
"Totally, as close neighbors, we perceived the events of recent months in Kyrgyzstan with great pain and anxiety. It led to the deaths of hundreds of people, the emergence of thousands of wounded and refugees. Kazakhstan from the first days of crisis renders all possible assistance to the neighboring republic. It is genuinely interested in the speedy restoration of the atmosphere of trust and tolerance in the country. It intends to continue to provide the necessary assistance for brotherly people of Kyrgyzstan to leave this crisis both on a bilateral basis and the OSCE Chairman", Saudabayev said.
He said that at this stage the full, effective and timely implementation of Framework Action Plan made by the special representatives of the OSCE, EU and UN in Kyrgyzstan is very important.
Four priority areas are determined to render aid, including public security, humanitarian assistance, regional security, post-conflict reconstruction and reconciliation.
"It is very important for the international community to express the will to support the Kyrgyz government's ability to ensure law, order and national reconciliation process. The OSCE is ready to make a worthy contribution to this mission. We propose to significantly strengthen the OSCE Centre in Bishkek and its representation in the regions of Kyrgyzstan ", Saudabayev said.
The Minister believes it is important to mobilize the political will of 56 countries - the OSCE members for Kyrgyzstan to get support from the organization which it needs today.
