The United States and Georgia will sign an agreement to facilitate economic growth today. Based on the document, $83 million of a $1-billion grant allocated to Georgia will be spent on improving infrastructure, promoting economic growth, and assisting IDPs.
U.S. Ambassador to Georgia John Bass and Georgian Finance Minister Kakha Baindurashvili will sign the agreement in Gori.
The Georgian government will allocate $24 million from its own funds to achieve the goals outlined in the agreement.
The agreement envisages the following projects - developing municipal infrastructure projects in five conflict-affected municipalities, such as restoring irrigation systems, stimulating municipal development and growth, providing technical assistance to economic ventures such as gardening, beekeeping and sheep breeding, helping to restore housing, and improving the living conditions of IDPs.
