Former U.S. official leaves Batumi for Dublin, not for Tbilisi

Georgia, Tbilisi, Sept.6 / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /

Former U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice unexpectedly left Batumi for Dublin this morning. Earlier, media reported that Rice would fly to Tbilisi to meet with Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili. The meeting was canceled due to security concerns, the Georgian Presidential Administration reported.

The Caucasus Travel Company told Trend today that Rice has already left Batumi for Dublin. The company did not say if she would return to Georgia.

The Caucasus Travel Company has co-organized the visit of 130 former world leaders to Georgia. The visit is part of a symposium on "Russia and the Black Sea," which began on Aug. 30 and will last until Sept. 15. The symposium is run by World Leaders Travel. The delegation has reportedly visited Russia and Turkey. After the Georgia visit, the delegation will head to Turkey, Russia, and Ukraine and Azerbaijan.
