In Afghanistan, where generations have grown up without knowing the other professions than that of a warrior, it is necessary to find a use for peaceful occupations, Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov told reporters on Saturday.

According to him, "the military pattern used at present in resolution of the internal Afghan conflict has no prospects."

"Multi-million costs on weapons, many victims have so far not led to the peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. The complex of our proposals consists in possible measures for implementation of alternative (non-military) pattern of resolving a number of Afghan problems and conflicts", Berdimuhamedov said.

When offering non-military measures to influence the situation in Afghanistan, Turkmenistan is "not waiting for anyone's approval and without prior arrangement already applies them in practice", he added.

"We continue to help our southern neighbor in the humanitarian field, construction of social infrastructure, electricity supply and we are confident that such a contribution to the change in quality of life of Afghan people is more effective than any military solutions", Turkmenistan's president noted.

Berdimuhamedov stated his willingness to consider increasing the supply of Turkmen electricity to Afghanistan, as well as the expansion of energy infrastructure for subsequent connection to the facilities in Afghan territory.
