The Georgian side expects agrément from the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry on the candidate for the post of ambassador to this country, the Georgian Foreign Ministry told Trend.

"Although former Georgian Consul to Turkey Teimuraz Sharashenidze was approved by the parliament upon President Mikheil Saakashvili's nomination to the post of the head of diplomatic mission in Azerbaijan, on the existing procedures we should get an invitation, the so-called agrément for our new ambassador," the Georgian Foreign Ministry said.

The ministry didn't answer the question whether the new ambassador will be able to get agrément before the Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze's visit to Baku, scheduled for Jan.18.

Earlier the Georgian MP Irakli Kavtaradze, appointed by Georgia as an ambassador to Azerbaijan failed to receive agrément. The Georgian Presidential Administration Spokesman Ivane Noniashvili, previously nominated for ambassadorial post, refused the post due to personal reasons.
