Brussels hosted the fourth plenary session as part of the negotiations on drafting the Association Agreement between Georgia and the EU.

The session focused on Preamble of the Agreement, the questions of the three working groups. The questions of the first working group include political dialogue and reform, cooperation as part of the common foreign and security policy; the second - justice, freedom and security, the third - financial, economic and sectoral cooperation.

The sides summed up the progress in the negotiations, determining future plans.

The Georgian delegation was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Tornike Gordadze, the Foreign Ministry's press service said. The delegation also included representatives from relevant agencies.

The European delegation was headed by deputy managing director of European External Action Service (EEAS) Gunnar Vigard.

The first round of negotiations on the EU Association Agreement with the three South Caucasus countries - Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia took place in July last year. The Agreement is based on joint commitment to develop common values and covers a wide range of areas including political dialogue, justice, freedom and security, as well as issues of trade and cooperation.

Along with Azerbaijan, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and Armenia, Georgia participates in the EU Eastern Partnership. The program envisages simplification of visa regime between the EU and member countries, cooperation in the energy sector, introduction of free trade zones.

The EU visa regime with Georgia came into force on March 1.
