Two of eight documentary film-makers detained in Iran were released, the website of the organization of documentary filmmakers said.

"Our colleagues Naser Safarian and Mohsen Shahrnazdar were released," a statement said. However, no details were announced on this issue.

Last week, the BBC TV and Radio Corporation showed a documentary film shot by Iranian documentary filmmakers. The filmmakers Mojtaba Mir Tahmaseb, Katayoon Shahabi, Hadi Afarideh, Naser Safarian, Shahnam Bazdar and Mohsen Shahrnazdar were arrested on September 17. They are accused of espionage and the sale of the BBC film.

Later, some Iranian officials accused them of espionage and activity against the interests of the country.

ISNA agency reported that Naser Safarian confirmed his release on bail worth $210,000.

The head of the BBC Persian desk Sadeg Sabani said that the arrested people are not official BBC employees. They did not shoot the films specifically for this TV and radio corporation. What they sent to the BBC, were previously shot tapes.
