Azerbaijan, EU discuss prospects for further cooperation

Brussels hosted a XII regular meeting of the Azerbaijan-EU Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee (ICC).

The sides discussed the current state of relations between the EU and Azerbaijan, the processes of economic and political development, the environment, the role of Azerbaijan in the framework of cooperation in the Black Sea region, exchanged views on European integration, the prospects for further cooperation, the Azerbaijani parliament told Trend on Wednesday.

The meeting, which took place in the building of the European Parliament, was attended by a delegation headed by deputy chairman Azerbaijani Parliament Valeh Alesgerov, and the delegation headed by MEP, ICC co-chairman Milan Cabrnoch.

At a meeting the government of Azerbaijan was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev, head of the department on work with international organizations of the Ministry of Economic Development Sahil Babayev and Azerbaijani Special Representative to the EU, Ambassador Emin Eyyubov.

On behalf of the EU special representative for South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Philippe Lefort, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule, as well as the head of the EU mission in Azerbaijan Roland Kobia took place in the meeting.
