A delegation of the U.S State Department will visit Georgia on September 10-12 and familiarize with the pre-election situation in the country.
The U.S. Embassy in Georgia told Trend that the delegation will be led by Deputy Secretary of State for Human Rights and Labor Thomas Melia.
The delegation includes the representatives from the Agency for International Development, the Departments of Defense and Justice.
The embassy stressed that the visit of the delegation emphasizes the importance of the democratic election process. As a result, the Georgian people must elect the Parliament expressing their will.
Deputy Secretary of State and members of the delegation will hold several meetings during which the delegation will appeal to the Georgian government to fulfill all norms of electoral legislation impartially and transparently and will also appeal to political parties to actively engage in this process and to respect the law.
