Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 3 / Trend M. Aliyev /

The so-called 'Intelligentsia Forum', which disseminates statements, does not represent the intelligentsia in Azerbaijan, head of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Ramiz Mehdiyev told journalists today.

A few days ago the Intelligentsia Forum made statements about the socio-political situation in Azerbaijan.

"The Intelligentsia Forum, disseminating these statements, does not represent intelligentsia in Azerbaijan," Mehdiyev said.

"Ten-fifteen people simply got together and created this organization. If one analyzes past and present of the organizers, it becomes clear what kind of goals this organization pursues. Someone wasn't elected as MP, the other one failed to create business, someone else had other goals and couldn't realize them, someone just got fired. Those are the kinds of people gathered there, and they're simply having fun. This organization is useless for Azerbaijan's future," Mehdiyev underscored.

"There are hundreds of thousands of intellectuals in Azerbaijan and these 10-15 people cannot ensure their interests," he said.

Azerbaijan and the President have great plans for the country's future," he said.

"The concept of "Azerbaijan 2020: a Look into the Future" will be prepared by late 2012. It will be discussed and submitted to the President for approval."

Mehdiyev noted that in 2020, Azerbaijan will become a famous powerful country in the region and world as well.

With regards to a candidature from the ruling party in the upcoming 2013 presidential elections, Mehdiyev stressed that people show great interest in the discussions on the candidacy.

"Azerbaijan has a concept of development till 2020, and we've discussed it today. I think that every person is able to conclude who will be the Azerbaijani president," Mehdiyev said.
