Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 2 / Trend M. Aliyev /
An event was held at the Buta Palace in Baku on the occasion of the Youth Day on Saturday.
Addressing the event, Head of Azerbaijani Presidential Administration's Social and Political Department Ali Hasanov said that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev pays attention to sports, youth, health, sentiment and beauty.
"Youth Day, which is celebrated on Feb. 2, was set by national leader Heydar Aliyev. Starting from 1997, every year we award the most worthy and talented youth representing the Azerbaijani people in the country and beyond it," Hasanov said.
Congratulating the representatives of youth, Hasanov said that, by using the conditions created today by the Azerbaijani state, President Ilham Aliyev, the youth should bypass the current generation with their success.
"Let the Azerbaijani youth move a few steps further than us, and properly represent our state and nation. Looking at the young people that gathered in this hall, I believe that it really will be the case, and the next generation will represent our state better than us," Hasanov said.
According to Youth and Sports Minister Azad Rahimov, who addressed the meeting, Azerbaijan is a young state and young people are its leading force.
Rahimov added that the youth makes up 66 percent of Azerbaijani population.
Stressing that youth policy pursued in the country is supported by President Ilham Aliyev, Rahimov said that the Head of State supports projects that are important to young people.
Rahimov noted that Azerbaijani youth made great success in 2012, which will continue in 2013.
Young people, who distinguished themselves in various fields last year were awarded at the event.
