Georgia, Tbilisi, 15 Feb. / Trend N.Kirtskhalia /

Tbilisi City Court ordered the Interior Ministry to enforce mandatory appearance for questioning of the Mayor of Tbilisi, Gigi Ugulava. According to the court's statement, Ugulava should appear for questioning at 15:00 on Friday, February 16.

According to the laws of Georgia, only president, deputies, judges and persons with diplomatic immunity are exempt of mandatory appearance for questioning, and that list does not include the mayor, the court said in a statement.

Earlier, the mayor of Tbilisi has twice refused to appear for questioning at the police department of Old Tbilisi. He was to be questioned as a witness in connection with the events of February 8 when clashes between the National Movement representatives and the Georgian Dream supporters disrupted President's annual speech at the National Library.

On Friday, Mayor Ugulava reiterated that he would comply with the decision of the court.
