UN Special Adviser attends South Caucasus Forum

The Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General, Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Asia and former head of the United Nations Population Fund Nafis Sadik is arriving in Azerbaijan to take part at the South Caucasus Forum.

The Special Adviser to the UN Secretary General, Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS in Asia and former head of the United Nations Population Fund Nafis Sadik is arriving in Azerbaijan to take part at the South Caucasus Forum.

The event is being organised by the Nizami Ganjavi International Centre and Club of Madrid with the support of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora and takes place on May 6 - 8, the State Committee for Work with Diaspora informed Trend on Monday.

Dr. Nafis Sadik became the first woman to hold such a high position at the UN. She is also the president of the Social Development Society and a member of the board of directors of 'End Human Trafficking' international project.

It is also important to note that she is a member of the administration of the Nizami Ganjavi International Centre.

The First South Caucasus Forum will be attended by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, former Prime Minister Ehud Barak, former Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis, a former director of UNESCO, Federico Mayor Zaragoza, Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Ismail Serageldin, former President of Latvia Vaira Vike-Freiberga and Valdis Zatlers, former Turkish President Suleyman Demirel and former Finnish President Tarja Halonen.

The forum is governed according to the rules of Chatham House.
