The West does not sufficiently support for the Syrian opposition, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc was quoted today by Anadolu agency.

Arinc added that the lack of support for the Syrian opposition by the West strengthens the influence of the radical groups in Syria.

"The western countries do not support the Syrian opposition, as opposed to the Libyan opposition, and this is regrettable," Arinc said.

Anti-government protests have continued in Syria for about two years. According to the UN, the total number of victims of the conflict in Syria exceeds 70,000 with around three million in need of humanitarian assistance. The Syrian authorities say they oppose the well-armed militants.
