The fifth congress of New Azerbaijan Party has been held at Buta palace in Baku today.
The delegates, representing more than 600,000 members of the ruling party, have warmly welcomed party chairman, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
Chairman of the party, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev addressed the congress with an extensive speech.
The President talked about the establishment of the ruling party, its way, the historical merits of the party's founder, great leader Heydar Aliyev, the role of the organization in the life of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijani society.
The congress made a decision to nominate Azerbaijani President, chairman of the party Ilham Aliyev for the presidential elections which will be held in the country in October 2013.
Then the organizational issues were addressed.
Ilham Aliyev was unanimously re-elected as chairman of the ruling party.
Afterwards, the staff of the Political Council consisting of 90 people, the Board - 21 people and the Central Auditing Commission - 15 people, was elected.
While summing up the work of the congress, chairman of the ruling party Ilham Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the trust and said that he will justify his activity.
