Azerbaijan, Baku, July 29 /Trend, I.Izzet/
It is necessary to welcome the steps taken for conduction of high-level elections in Azerbaijan, but it is not sufficient yet, the head of OSCE's Baku Office, ambassador Koray Targay said at the opening ceremony of the specialized courses on electoral law for the chairmen of District Election Commissions (DECs), which took place in the Central Election Commission on Monday.
According to Targay, who made a speech on "The constitutional basis of the electoral law and its legal enforcement mechanisms", Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's relevant orders have also created a favorable basis for this.
"Free and fair elections are one of the important issues of social development," Targay said.
According to him, District Election Commissions have a great responsibility in this context. The OSCE, for its part will continue to support the election commissions.
Targay also added that, the growth of women activity in the election process has a special importance, and OSCE's Baku Office conducts a joint work with President Administration and CEC regarding this issue.
