Egypt plays the most important role in the region and the partnership between Egypt and Turkey is of strategic character, Turkish ambassador to Cairo Huseyin Avni Botsali said, Anadolu agency reported on Thursday.
The ambassador noted that Egypt is a critical partner and Turkey welcomes the further development of relations with Egypt.
Turkish ambassador to Cairo, who was recalled to Ankara due to the deterioration of Turkish-Egyptian relations returned to Egypt yesterday.
Ambassador Huseyin Avni Botsali was recalled from Cairo on August 16 for consultations. In response, Egypt recalled its Ambassador to Ankara Abdurrahman Salahaddin.
Relations between Turkey and Egypt have deteriorated recently. Egypt accuses Turkey of intervening in its internal affairs. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier said the Egyptian army committed genocide against its own people while suppressing demonstrations of Morsi supporters, resulting in over 800 civilians being killed.
