A military parade will be held in Iran on Sunday in connection with "Sacred defense" week, the spokesman of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ramadan Sharif said, ISNA news agency reported.

According to him, all units of Iranian Armed Forces, "Sepah" corps, land and navy forces will participate at the military parade.

The aim of the parade is to demonstrate Iran's military power, the spokesman stressed.

"The parade will be held in all Iranian cities besides Tehran," Sharif said.

The parade will be held in front of the mausoleum of former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khomeini. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Iran's high-ranking civilian and military officials, as well as military attaches of foreign missions in Iran will observe the parade.

The latest technologies in the military sphere will be demonstrated during the parade.

Each year, the day of Iraq's attack on Iran is marked as the "Sacred Defense" week in this country. Military parades are held in Tehran and other Iranian cities on this occasion.

The Iran-Iraq war began on September 22 1980 with the attack of Iraqi army to Iran's Khuzestan province. The war ended on August 20 1988 with the signing of a ceasefire agreement and the borders of the two countries remained in a pre-war state.
