The Azerbaijani Embassy in the Czech Republic held an event to mark the start of Fakhraddin Mirzayev's activity as the Honorary Consul of Azerbaijan in Karlovy Vary city, the press service of the Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

Speaking at the event, the Ambassador Tahir Taghizade mentioned the friendly relations between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan, the development of economic, cultural and humanitarian relations in recent years, and he took the appointment of Honorary Consul of Azerbaijan in Karlovy Vary as the evidence for this.

Czech Foreign Minister Jan Kohout, who participated in the event, expressed satisfaction with the current level of relations between the Czech Republic and Azerbaijan and the confidence that after the opening of the Honorary Consulate, the friendly relations between the states will be further strengthened. The minister also stressed that Azerbaijan is developing rapidly now.

Kohout congratulated Mirzayev on his appointment as honorary consul and officially handed him the exequatur of the Czech side.

Mirzayev thanked the Czech Foreign Minister and stressed that he will contribute to the development of friendly relations between the states.

The senators, members of the Czech Parliament, Deputy Foreign Minister Tomas Dub, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Martin Hovorka, head of the international relations department of the presidential administration Hynek Kmoníček, Director of Diplomatic Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tomas Pernitsky, business people, as well as representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora participated in the event.
