Uzbek parliament approves execution of state budget report

The Legislative Chamber of the Uzbek Oliy Majlis has approved a report on the execution of the country’s state budget for the first half of 2013, the lower chamber of the Uzbek parliament said on Wednesday.

The Legislative Chamber of the Uzbek Oliy Majlis has approved a report on the execution of the country's state budget for the first half of 2013, the lower chamber of the Uzbek parliament said on Wednesday.

MPs stressed that the state budget was executed in accordance with parameters approved by parliament, as well as the focused execution of key priorities in the social and economic development of the country in 2013.

The main focus of budget expenditure - 60.9 per cent was directed to the social spheres of education, health and population social support in the reporting period.

The major amount of social expenditures - 59.1 per cent fell to the provision of educational institutions for the necessary means and their development, 23.6 per cent healthcare, 1.6 per cent the development of culture, sports and media and 0.8 per cent the development of science.

MPs stressed the misappropriation of funds and financial transgression.

Despite the positive results of the state budget execution in the first half of the year, around 2958 out of 3389 educational institutions were monitored. Around $6.4 billion soums were found to be illegally spent.

The official exchange rate is 2146, 70 soums/$ 1 on Sept. 26.
