The French Research Institute "OpinionWay" conducted an opinion poll among one thousand people in order to study the pre-election situation in Azerbaijan.
Answering the question "Who would you vote for if the presidential elections were held today?", 79.9 percent of respondents supported the candidacy of Ilham Aliyev, 7.8 percent - Jamil Hasanli, 1.5 percent - Gudrat Hasanguliyev, 0.6 percent - Igbal Agazade, 0.3 percent - Zahid Oruj, 0.2 percent - Ilyas Ismayilov, 0.2 percent - Araz Alizade, 0.2 percent - Sardar Mammadov, 0.1 percent - Hafiz Hajiyev, zero percent - Faraj Guliyev, and 9.2 percent of the respondents said they did not know for whom they would have voted.
About 56.2 percent of the total number of respondents said that economic situation in Azerbaijan has improved, 26.7 percent said that the situation in the country hasn't changed, 12.5 percent of the respondents said that the economic situation has deteriorated and 4.6 percent found it difficult to answer.
About one thousand people over the age of 18 directly participated in the survey conducted at the respondents' place of residence.
In order to contribute to conducting of transparent, free elections in accordance to the internationally accepted democratic standards, Azad Azerbaijan TV and Radio Broadcasting Company invited the French Research Institute "OpinionWay" to hold exit-poll in the country.
The negotiations with the research institute started in early June and the parties signed a relevant agreement in late August.
On election day, "OpinionWay" Institute will hold exit-polls in 99 polling stations on the territory of 64 districts.
Presidential elections in Azerbaijan will be held on October 9.
Previous presidential elections were held on October 15, 2008. The presidential elections in Azerbaijan are held every five years.
