The presidential elections in Azerbaijan were successful and fair, head of the observation mission of the Public Chamber, member of the chamber, former deputy of the Russian State Duma, political analyst Sergei Markov said at a press conference in Baku today.
According to him, Ilham Aliyev's victory in the elections is a triumph for Azerbaijan.
He also stressed that the Azerbaijani opposition has serious problems, one of which is differences within the opposition.
The Azerbaijani presidential election was held on October 9. According to the results announced by the Azerbaijani CEC after processing of ballots from 99.53 percent of polling stations, President Ilham Aliyev gathered 3,118,287 votes (84.59 percent).
