Baku, Azerbaijan, Nov. 9

By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend: The disagreement on separation of the student dormitories for boys and girls is observed between Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc in the government, Turkish newspaper Milliyet reported on Nov. 9.

According to the newspaper, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister made this statement.

According to Arinc, Prime Minister Erdogan must clarify the current situation on this issue.

Earlier it was reported that Arinc was commenting on the media news.

"The information that Erdogan plans to separate the student dormitories for boys and girls is wrong," Arinc said.

Afterwards, Erdogan denied Arinc's words.

Earlier, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a meeting of the ruling coalition that the student dormitories for boys and girls will be separated from each other.

The Turkish population disapproves the fact that boys and girls live in co-ed student dormitories in the country, Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdag said earlier.

According to Bozdag, the separation of the student dormitories for boys and girls shouldn't be perceived as an intervention in personal life.

"Currently, the government is not engaged in this issue, but in case of necessity, the student dormitories for boys and girls will be separated," Bozdag said.

According to Bozdag, this step doesn't contradict the country's constitution.

Turkish human rights activists and the Anatolian women's movement filed a lawsuit against the country's Prime Minister in connection with his statement that student dormitories for boys and girls will be separated from each other.
