The special services of Iran and Turkey closely cooperate in all areas, Iranian Ambassador to Turkey Alireza Bikdeli said, Turkish newspaper Hurriyet Daily News reported on Nov. 29.

According to the diplomat, close cooperation between the special services of Ankara and Tehran is very important in terms of stability in the region.

He also offered Tehran's meditation to Turkey in establishing relations with Syria.

"Iran is ready in every way to improve relations between Ankara and Damascus," the ambassador said.

Touching upon the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), the diplomat noted that, the decision should be made after consultation with neighboring countries because this issue is regional in character.

Turkey's conflict with the PKK, which demands the creation of an independent Kurdish state, has been continuing for over 25 years and has claimed more than 40,000 lives. The United Nations and the European Union recognized the PKK as a terrorist organization.

Earlier, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Besir Atalay said the country will continue its efforts to ensure that the PKK militants left Turkey's territory. Terrorist PKK militants began to leave the territory of Turkey on May 8. According to Deputy Prime Minister Bulent Arinc, there were about 2,000 militants of the terrorist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in Turkey, and about 20 per cent of them have already left the country.
