Around 255 participants of the mass protests in Turkey have been indicted, Turkish Sabah newspaper reported on Dec.10 citing the sources at the country's Prosecutor's Office.

There are seven foreign citizens among those who were accused of participation in mass protests in various cities of Turkey, according to the newspaper.

The citizenship of the accused foreign citizens hasn't been mentioned, the newspaper said.

Protests had been taking place in Turkey for nearly three weeks since the end of May 2013. According to the authorities they were anti-government.

The Turkish oppositional parties accuse the police of using excessive force against protestors.

In total, around 2.5 million people from 79 Turkish provinces participated in protest actions during three weeks, the Turkish Interior Ministry said earlier.

As a result of the unrest in Turkey nearly 4,000 people were injured with varying severity, 4,900 were detained by the police.
