The number of transport corridors among the Turkic-speaking countries will increase, the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries (TurkPA), Jandos Asanov said on Feb.11 at the third meeting of the TurkPA Commission on Economic, Trade and Financial Affairs in Baku.

The third meeting of the TurkPA Commission on Economic, Trade and Financial Affairs was held in the Azerbaijani capital on Feb.11. MPs of Azerbaijan, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan participated in the meeting.

A report on the role of transport communications in the sphere of economic cooperation was heard at the commission's meeting. The Deputy Chairman of the commission, Azerbaijani MP Sevinj Huseynova said that the report also included the decisions adopted at the third summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States held in August 2013 in Gabala.

The TurkPA secretary general said at the meeting that the increase in the number of transport corridors and the improvement of infrastructure will positively affect the economy of all Turkic-speaking countries.

A representative of Kyrgyzstan Abdurrahman Mamataliev said that some 95 percent of passengers in his country are transported by motor transport.

Kazakh representative Sarsenbai Yensegenov stressed that one of the priority issues is to expand the transport and logistics infrastructure between Turkic-speaking countries. The development of maritime trade is important for the Turkic-speaking countries, and it contributes to their entry into the European markets, according to the representative.

Turkish representative Mahmud Mujahid Findikli said the economic ties among the TurkPA countries have been strengthened even more in recent years. In the case of solution of transport problems, the trade, customs, tourism spheres of these countries will also develop, according to the representative.

Azerbaijani MP Nizami Jafarov said the transport issue is one of the most important issues uniting the Turkic world. The solution of the problem in this sphere will give impetus to the development of cooperation in other spheres, the MP said.

A document was adopted at the end of the commission's meeting recommended for the consideration at the plenary meeting of TurkPA. At the same time it was agreed to hold the fourth meeting of the commission in the second half of 2014 in Kazakhstan.
