No warrant to wiretap Turkish Premier’s son

There are no warrants for physical tracking and wiretapping the son of Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Bilal Erdogan the Office of Istanbul's Chief Public Prosecutor said, Turkish Anadolu news agency reported on Feb. 28.

Turkish media reported on Feb. 25 that in 2011 telephone conversations of about 7000 people associated with the representatives of both the ruling and opposition parties, including family members of PM were wiretapped, as part of the anti-terrorist operation carried out by the Istanbul prosecutor's office against Salam terrorist organization.

During the anti-terrorist operations, telephone conversations of the head Turkish intelligence, Hakan Fidan were wiretapped as well.

The member of Turkish ruling Justice and Development Party, Mazhar Bagli said earlier that the records of telephone conversations have been transferred to third parties, without specifying exactly who the third party is.

A criminal investigation has been filed against the illegal wiretapping of statesmen in Turkey. Two prosecutors have been arrested. Their names were not disclosed.
