Friendly and brotherly relations exist between Azerbaijan and Afghanistan, an Afghan official told Trend on March 19 during a visit to Baku.

Foreign Affairs Minister of Afghanistan Zarar Ahmad Osmani said that mutual relations between the two countries are at a good level and are developing in many directions.

"A new period started in the cooperation in the economic sphere, and one of the purposes of my visit to Baku is discuss the issues of development of economic ties with the Azerbaijani representatives. At present time, several Azerbaijani investors operate in Afghanistan. Among them may be noted the "Azinco" company which has invested$ 25 million in the sphere of oil refining in Afghanistan and plans to increase investment to $ 55 million," he said.

A good environment is created in Afghanistan for investment, Osmani said. Legislation in the field of investment in Afghanistan is liberal, there is no difference for the Afghan and foreign entrepreneurs. From this perspective, Afghanistan is one of the most profitable countries for investment, he added.

Osmani considers Afghanistan to be one of the richest states in the region in mineral resources. The value of mineral resources in Afghanistan is estimated at nearly $3 trillion. Afghanistan has reserves of gold, copper, aluminum, marble, various mining and oil and gas resources, he noted.
"All of this shows that there are great potentials and great investment opportunities for the Azerbaijani entrepreneurs in Afghanistan," Osmani said.

The Azerbaijani investors can invest in any sphere of interest to them, according to the Afghan FM.

"Azerbaijani investors can invest in the textile, oil and gas, industry and other spheres. Afghanistan also has great potential for agriculture and horticulture," Osmani said.
