An anti-terrorist operation started in Slavyansk city of Ukraine's Donetsk region, where the protesters are blocking the police department's building, according to Ukrainian Interior Minister Arsen Avakov's Facebook page.
"An anti-terrorist operation led by the Anti-Terrorist Center of Ukraine's Security Service has started in Slavyansk," Ukrainian Ukrinform agency reported quoting Avakov's Facebook page.
Avakov added that forces from all security authorities have been involved in the operation.
It was reported that late last night Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council held a meeting under chairmanship of Ukraine's Acting President Oleksandr Turchynov.
The meeting reviewed measures to stabilize the situation in Ukraine's eastern provinces.
