Baku, Azerbaijan, April 25

By Rufiz Hafizoglu - Trend:

The decisions of Turkey's Constitutional Court serve the people's interests, Turkish TRT Haber TV channel quoted Hakim Kilich, head of the country's Constitutional Court as saying on April 25 at the meeting dedicated to the 52nd anniversary of the court's creation.

"Those who discuss the decisions of the Constitutional Court and regard them as irrelevant to the national interest, do not take the court's decisions seriously. Court decisions are neither adopted in accordance with orders and decrees, nor guided by friendly or hostile feelings in a state governed by the rule of law," Kilich said.

After Kilich's speech, the ministers from the ruling party and the country's prime minister didn't participate in the lunch.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized the decision to unblock the Twitter social network in the country.

"If Turkey's authorities accept the decision of the Constitutional Court on unblocking the Twitter social network in the country, it doesn't mean that they respect this decision," Erdogan said.

Turkish Ministry of Transport and Communications said on April 3 that the Twitter social network has been unblocked in the country.

Turkish Constitutional Court considered the appeal in connection with blocking of Twitter microblogging network on April 2.

The court regarded the closing of the social network as a violation of users' freedom of expression and adopted a decision to lift the ban on access to Twitter.
