Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, Elmar Mammadyarov said that he and his counterparts from Turkey and Turkmenistan adopted the Baku Declaration on May 26.

Mammadyarov made the remarks at a press conference held after a meeting with the foreign ministers of Turkey and Turkmenistan.

"The cooperation of the three countries will cover a wide range of issues, including energy industry, tourism, humanitarian sphere and politics," Azerbaijani minister stressed.

He went on to add that Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan also plan to create a format of meetings for the ministers responsible for the mentioned cooperation areas.

Such meeting between the high-ranking representatives of Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Turkey is held for the first time. The next one is scheduled to be held in Turkmen capital of Ashgabat in mid-2014.

The adopted declaration stresses the need to address the challenges and threats in the modern world, the importance of developing cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, and strengthening of cooperation within the international organizations. The contribution of the three countries' cooperation for regional security, stability and development of the region is also underscored in the document.

Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Turkey also stressed that they will make every effort to fight terrorism, extremism, and transnational organized crime.

Similar formats of meetings between Azerbaijan-Turkey-Georgia and Azerbaijan-Turkey-Iran have already been created, followed by the summits of the foreign ministers and presidents of these countries.
