Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU) have signed a protocol on the agreement on cooperation and partnership between Azerbaijan and the EU and its member states on the framework agreement on the general principles of Azerbaijan's participation in the organization’s programs.

Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU) have signed a protocol on the agreement on cooperation and partnership between Azerbaijan and the EU and its member states on the framework agreement on the general principles of Azerbaijan's participation in the organization's programs.

The document was signed on June 14 after the expanded meeting between Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, with participation of delegations.

The protocol was signed by the head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan, Malena Mard, Greek Ambassador to Azerbaijan, Dimitrios Tsoungas on behalf of Greece that chairs the EU and the head of Azerbaijan's Permanent Representation to the EU, Fuad Isgandarov.

Following this, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and European Commission President Barroso made statements for the press.
