Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe made a statement on the Malaysia Airlines plane crash in Eastern Ukraine, according to the message posted at the website of the CE Committee of Ministers.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov, Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe made a statement on the Malaysia Airlines plane crash in Eastern Ukraine, according to the message posted at the website of the CE Committee of Ministers.

"I have been shocked by the crash of the Malaysia Airlines aircraft in Eastern Ukraine," according to the message. "On behalf of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, I would like to express my deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of all the victims. I call on those concerned to facilitate the rapid repatriation of the victims' bodies out of respect for them and their loved ones. I join the appeal that a thorough, independent and transparent investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragedy should be carried out promptly."

On July 17, it was reported that the Boeing 777 (MH17) of Malaysia Airlines crashed in the Donetsk region of Ukraine. MH17 was carrying out flights between Amsterdam and Kuala Lumpur.

At the time of the air disaster there were 298 people on board the plane. All of them died.
