Embassy of Serbia in Azerbaijan is concerned about the incident during a training of a Partizan (PFC) professional football club in the Neftchi PFC stadium in Baku.
"Embassy is unpleasantly surprised by the incident occurred on the evening of 27 August during a Partizan FC workout at the Neftchi PFC stadium in Baku. Neftchi PFC fans were screaming and throwing bottles, stones and other objects on the football field. Upon completion of the training a bus carrying the players was stoned and damaged on the way to the hotel," said the embassy.
The report notes that the Serbian Embassy in Azerbaijan expects that appropriate measures will be taken to ensure the safety of players and fans of Partizan FC until to their departure from Baku.
"We hope that this incident was not organized. But another similar incident can become an attempt to spoil good relations between Serbia and Azerbaijan. In this regard, we expect that the perpetrators will be identified and punished appropriately," the statement said.
