The Azerbaijani and Turkish presidents pay first visits to the fraternal countries after the election. This has already become a tradition, Azerbaijani MP Aydin Mirzazade told Trend Sept. 1.

He was commenting on Turkish newly elected president Recep Tayyip Erdogan's expected visit to Azerbaijan.

"This fact shows Turkey's great importance attached to the relations with Azerbaijan, the desire of the Turkish side to be always with Azerbaijan in all issues and continue to develop fraternal and friendly relations with Azerbaijan," he said.

"Recep Tayyip Erdogan can be characterized as a politician who highly appreciates the relations with Azerbaijan, seeking to strengthen the Turkic world," Mirzazade said.

"Azerbaijan is looking forward to Erdogan's visit," he said. "He arrives in Azerbaijan not only as the president, but as a friendly president of a friendly country."

"Today Turkey's joy is the joy of Azerbaijan," Mirzazade said. "The problems faced by Turkey are Azerbaijan's problems. Only a joint activity of two friendly countries can solve these problems and strengthen the friendship."

"Erdogan's visit is expected with great interest abroad," he added. "As Turkey is one of the major figures in the world politics and in many issues, its position is significant. After Erdogan's electing, the Azerbaijani-Turkish friendship will be more strengthened."

The newly elected president of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan Sept. 2. This is his first official visit as the president.
