Baku branch of International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development to familiraze with constituencies' activity

Employees of Baku branch of the International Institute for Monitoring Democracy Development, Parliamentarianism and Suffrage Protection of Citizens of the Secretariat of the IPA CIS Council, were send on a mission to Azerbaijani regions.  

Azerbaijani municipal elections are scheduled for December 23, 2009. About 15682 members are planned to be elected to 1718 municipalities. 

Municipal elections were held twice in 1999 and 2004.

Employees of the branch will observe activity of electoral commissions in regions due to municipal elections, press-service of Baku branch of the International Institute told Trend News on October 14. "Employees of the branch aim to familiarize with preparatory work of electoral commissions for municipal elections in regions," the message said.   

The branch holds broad research on 'Municipal elections in Azerbaijan'. The organization set down to hold monitoring on several spheres, research and poll.

Workshops on elections will be held in Baku and Azerbaijani regions. They aim to prepare observers intending to participate in municipal elections of 2009.
